Natural Luxury: Liubasha Rose on Telluride, Storytelling, and the Bellingen Lamp

Natural Luxury: Liubasha Rose on Telluride, Storytelling, and the Bellingen Lamp

Set high (9,545 feet to be exact) in the mountains of Colorado, Telluride is a place steeped in history and surrounded by breathtaking alpine scenery. It is a destination with a deeply rooted character—one that designer Liubasha Rose, founder of Rose Ink Workshop, responded to perfectly when crafting the Crest Club at the five-star Madeline Hotel & Residences. Nestled in the heart of town, this members-only lounge draws inspiration from the surrounding landscape and timeless ski chalet charm. Sharing a kindred natural spirit, the space has also become home to the NEOZ Bellingen cordless lamp.

Rose Ink Workshop is known for creating immersive, highly detailed spaces all over the world. From luxury resorts to boutique hospitality, their work gracefully blends emotion, materiality, detail, and storytelling. The studio’s work in Telluride is no exception—anchored by natural materials, layered textures, and the subtle glow of the NEOZ Bellingen lamps.

How would you describe your overall design philosophy at Rose Ink Workshop? What guides you when shaping a new space?

The heart of our company is a balance of creativity and precision. We curate spaces where every detail supports both fantasy and real life, inspired by all the elements. Our work blends craftsmanship with materiality—working with fabrics so that texture, colour, and weave each add a unique voice to the grand narrative.

Telluride is such a distinctive setting. How did this shape your thinking when designing the Crest Club?

Telluride’s unique natural beauty and rich history played a pivotal role in shaping the design of the Crest Club. We chose natural materials to craft a space that feels both warm and authentic, seamlessly integrated into the landscape.

Does designing a private setting call for a different approach compared to public hospitality spaces?

Absolutely. Designing a private setting like the Crest Club is more like writing a love letter than a novel—it’s deeply personal, emotionally layered, and meant to be quietly discovered, not loudly announced. In a public hospitality space, you design for a crowd; in a place like this, you design for a knowing few.

The Crest Club features the NEOZ Bellingen lamp—what drew you to that particular piece?

The Bellingen cordless lamp captured our attention for its craftsmanship and natural beauty. Its sculptural hardwood base, with warm tones and a strong, expressive grain, evokes the feeling of walking through the woods. Its soft glow adds a sense of calm, creating a connection to nature that we wanted to bring into the space.
