Cordless table lamp

Egg

Designed by Peter Ellis, Tammy Chiew & Gabriel Tam · 1998

The Egg is one of NEOZ's most recognisable shapes: a hand-blown frosted glass egg that glows softly in every direction. Designed in 1998, its simple organic form has become a NEOZ classic, equally at home nestled on a dining table or set out under the open sky.

Rated IP64, the Egg is genuinely built for the alfresco life, dust-tight and resistant to splashing water, so it can move from the restaurant floor to the terrace or poolside without worry. The frosted, hand-blown glass diffuses the light into an even, warm glow with no glare and no visible source.

Like every NEOZ lamp, the Egg is fully serviceable, with every part user replaceable.

A NEOZ icon
The Shape

A NEOZ icon

The Egg is one of the most recognisable shapes NEOZ has ever made: a simple, sculptural egg of hand-blown glass that has been part of the range since 1998. There is no base to speak of and no visible fitting, just a soft, glowing form that reads as an object first and a lamp second. Quietly organic and endlessly at ease, it has earned its place as a NEOZ classic.

Hand-blown, frosted, even
The Glass

Hand-blown, frosted, even

Each Egg diffuser is hand-blown from frosted glass, so no two are ever exactly alike. The frosting is what does the work: it spreads the light evenly across the whole surface for a warm, omnidirectional glow with no hotspot and no glare, whichever way the lamp is turned. It is a deceptively simple piece of craft that has never needed improving on.

Made for the open air
Alfresco

Made for the open air

Some lamps only pretend to be outdoor lamps. Rated IP64, the Egg genuinely is one: dust-tight and resistant to splashing water from any direction, so it can move from a dining table to a terrace, a poolside or an open-air setting like Talu Wiru at Uluru or The Brando without a second thought. As comfortable under the stars as it is indoors, it brings the same soft glow wherever it goes.

NEOZ Cordless Lamp Lock
Secure by design

Leave your Egg exactly where you want it

Your Egg is made to move, which is exactly why operators asked us to help them keep it close. The Cordless Lamp Lock secures it to the table itself. A low-profile plate fixes discreetly to the surface, the lamp locks on with a single press, and a dedicated key releases it. No tools, no brackets, and nothing a guest would ever notice.

It lets you place cordless light where you could not before. Outdoor terraces, bar tops and street-facing tables can carry your Egg with the confidence it will still be there tomorrow. The Cordless Lamp Lock is made from 75% post-consumer recycled polycarbonate.

Built to be kept

Buy once, and keep it for years

Every NEOZ lamp is built around our light engine and made to be serviced, not discarded. Move the electronics between bodies, or replace a single worn part, and the lamp you buy today stays with you for years.

Replaceable parts

Fix the part, not the lamp

Battery, light source, diffuser and body are each replaceable on their own. Damage one element and you repair just that part, never the whole lamp.

MODULAR BY DESIGN

Change the body, keep the engine

The NEOZ light engine is independent of the body and lifts out to move between them, the heart of our modular design. Restyle to a new look, or replace a damaged body, while keeping the electronics you already own.

Service and repair

Looked after, wherever you are

Our service centre is in Sydney, and we accept lamps back from anywhere in the world for assessment and repair. More often we diagnose remotely and send the right parts with video instructions, backed by our online help centre, so your lamps keep working wherever they are.

Commercial grade

Made for the floor

Engineered for nightly use in five-star service, with all-day battery life, fast charging and charging solutions that scale from a single base to a 48-lamp station. Backed by an industry-leading 5-year warranty, and fully serviceable for the long term.

What makes the Egg special?

The Egg is one of NEOZ's most iconic shapes, a hand-blown frosted glass form that has been part of the range since 1998. It glows softly in every direction, and thanks to its IP64 rating it is genuinely suited to outdoor use, which makes it as at home on a terrace or by a pool as it is on a dining table.

What kind of light does the Egg give?

The Egg is omnidirectional, casting a soft, even, warm glow across its whole surface rather than in a single direction. The frosted hand-blown glass diffuses the light so there is no hotspot and no visible source, just a gentle ambient light that suits almost any setting.

Can the Egg really be used outdoors?

Yes. The Egg carries an IP64 rating, meaning it is dust-tight and protected against splashing water from any direction, a higher level of protection than most cordless table lamps. It is well suited to open-air dining, terraces and poolside settings, though like any electrical product it is not intended to be submerged.

What finishes and sizes does the Egg come in?

This listing is the Egg Original in frosted hand-blown glass, in a single size. The Egg is also offered in Fritted Opal and Fritted Red finishes, each available in two sizes, as separate products.

How long does the Egg run, and how is it charged?

The Egg uses NEOZ's N1 engine, giving up to 17.5 hours of light on high and around 55 hours on low, from a charge of about 3.5 hours, with brightness set by a touch of the base across three levels. It comes with a warm white LED at 2600K as standard, with an optional warm candle LED at 1800K, and ships with an N1 Charging Base that includes AU, UK, EU and USA wall plugs.

Is the Egg serviceable and compatible with NEOZ charging and security systems?

Yes. Every major part is user replaceable, including the battery, light source and glass diffuser, and NEOZ offers repairs and servicing. The Egg works with all NEOZ charging systems and is compatible with the Cordless Lamp Lock, which applies to lamps whose serial number begins with L, for example LA1234.
