Cordless table lamp

Owl 3

Designed by Peter Ellis & Gabriel Tam · 2006

One of NEOZ's enduring classics, first designed in 2006, the Owl has lit hospitality tables for two decades. The Owl 3 tops the tapered Owl body with an internally ribbed conical diffuser, shaped like a small lampshade, that spreads a soft, warm light in every direction, an even, glare-free ambient wash rather than a focused beam.

It is offered with a choice of two light engines: the standard N1 for everyday service, or the PRO for venues wanting the longest possible runtime between charges. Every part is user replaceable, so the lamp can be maintained and kept for years rather than replaced.

Choose from three brushed finishes, stainless steel, lacquered brass or lacquered copper, with a warm white or warm candle LED and brightness set across three levels.

Twenty years on the table
The Origin

Twenty years on the table

The Owl is one of NEOZ's true originals, first designed in 2006 as a compact, durable lamp for demanding hospitality rooms. It was among the first cordless lamps to run on lithium-ion power, and it introduced NEOZ's interchangeable diffuser system, the idea that now runs through the whole range. Two decades on, the Owl's form is essentially unchanged, and the Owl 3 wears its most lampshade-like top.

Soft light, all around
The Light

Soft light, all around

The Owl 3 is topped with an internally ribbed conical diffuser, shaped like a small lampshade, that spreads a soft, warm light in every direction. Rather than pointing the beam down or out, it glows omnidirectionally, filling the space around it with an even, ambient wash that is glare-free from any angle. It is the most quietly traditional of the three Owls, the one that reads most like a classic little table lamp, made entirely cordless.

Built to be kept, and to be chosen
The Engine

Built to be kept, and to be chosen

The Owl's shape has stayed constant while the technology inside it has advanced. The original 5W halogen source is now a high-CRI 1W LED, and six battery cells have become one, housed in a modular, user-replaceable architecture designed to be serviced rather than thrown away. The Owl 3 is offered with a choice of two engines: the standard N1 for everyday service, and the PRO for venues that want the longest possible runtime between charges.

NEOZ Cordless Lamp Lock
Secure by design

Leave your Owl 3 exactly where you want it

Your Owl 3 is made to move, which is exactly why operators asked us to help them keep it close. The Cordless Lamp Lock secures it to the table itself. A low-profile plate fixes discreetly to the surface, the lamp locks on with a single press, and a dedicated key releases it. No tools, no brackets, and nothing a guest would ever notice.

It lets you place cordless light where you could not before. Outdoor terraces, bar tops and street-facing tables can carry your Owl 3 with the confidence it will still be there tomorrow. The Cordless Lamp Lock is made from 75% post-consumer recycled polycarbonate.

Built to be kept

Buy once, and keep it for years

Every NEOZ lamp is built around our light engine and made to be serviced, not discarded. Move the electronics between bodies, or replace a single worn part, and the lamp you buy today stays with you for years.

Replaceable parts

Fix the part, not the lamp

Battery, light source, diffuser and body are each replaceable on their own. Damage one element and you repair just that part, never the whole lamp.

MODULAR BY DESIGN

Change the body, keep the engine

The NEOZ light engine is independent of the body and lifts out to move between them, the heart of our modular design. Restyle to a new look, or replace a damaged body, while keeping the electronics you already own.

Service and repair

Looked after, wherever you are

Our service centre is in Sydney, and we accept lamps back from anywhere in the world for assessment and repair. More often we diagnose remotely and send the right parts with video instructions, backed by our online help centre, so your lamps keep working wherever they are.

Commercial grade

Made for the floor

Engineered for nightly use in five-star service, with all-day battery life, fast charging and charging solutions that scale from a single base to a 48-lamp station. Backed by an industry-leading 5-year warranty, and fully serviceable for the long term.

What is the difference between the N1 and PRO Light Engines?

Both engines deliver the same warm, high-CRI light and fit the same Owl body; the difference is runtime and weight. The standard N1 engine gives up to 17.5 hours on high and around 55 hours on low, charges in about 3.5 hours, and weighs 340g. The PRO engine is built for maximum endurance, giving up to 66 hours on high and around 310 hours on low, charging in about 8.5 hours, and weighing 610g. Choose N1 for everyday service and PRO for venues that want the longest possible time between charges.

What kind of light does the Owl 3 give?

The Owl 3 uses an internally ribbed conical diffuser, shaped like a small lampshade, that spreads a soft, warm light omnidirectionally, filling the space around it with an even, glare-free ambient wash. It is designed for atmosphere rather than a focused beam, which suits lounges, reading corners and relaxed dining. For a directed downlight the Owl 1 uses a dome reflector, and for a glowing sidelight the Owl 2 uses an opal diffuser.

What finishes does the Owl 3 come in?

The Owl 3 is available in three finishes: brushed stainless steel, brushed and lacquered brass, and brushed and lacquered copper.

Can the Owl 3 be used outdoors?

The Owl 3 carries an IP52 rating, which offers protection against dust and lightly dripping water. It is well suited to indoor use and to sheltered outdoor settings such as covered terraces, but it is not intended for fully exposed positions.

What LED colour options does the Owl 3 offer?

On both engines, the Owl 3 comes with a warm white LED at 2600K as standard, with an optional warm candle LED at 1800K for a softer, more amber light. Both are high-CRI (93+).

Is the Owl 3 serviceable and compatible with NEOZ charging and security systems?

Yes. Every major part is user replaceable, including the battery, light source and diffuser, and NEOZ offers repairs and servicing. The Owl 3 is compatible with all NEOZ charging systems. It is also compatible with the Cordless Lamp Lock when specified with the N1 Light Engine, which applies to lamps whose serial number begins with L, for example LA1234.
