The Tall Poppy takes its cue from nature, standing high on a slender stem like a flower reaching for the light. Cast from durable diecast zinc alloy with a subtle fluted texture, it casts a soft, glare-free pool of light downward onto the table from a broad disc top, so the glow lands where it is wanted without a bright source in the eye.

It comes in six finishes on the same form: painted satin black, electroplated satin silver, satin brass and satin bronze, a clean gloss white, and the iridescent Reef, a physical vapour deposition finish that shifts through peacock tones. Its 2017 design was recognised with the Good Design Award, an IIDA HD Expo Product Design Award and a darc award.

The Satin Black ships with NEOZ's N1 engine and is compatible with the Cordless Lamp Lock; the other finishes currently ship with the UNO engine and are moving to N1 over time. Both engines give the same warm white light. Rated IP52, the Tall Poppy suits indoor and covered settings, and like every NEOZ lamp it is fully serviceable, with every part user replaceable.

What makes the Tall Poppy special?

The Tall Poppy is a sculptural cordless downlight inspired by a flower on its stem, cast from durable diecast zinc alloy with a subtle fluted texture. Its broad top casts a soft, glare-free pool of light onto the table. It comes in six finishes, from satin black to the iridescent Reef, and its 2017 design was recognised with the Good Design Award, an IIDA HD Expo Product Design Award and a darc award.

Which light engine does the Tall Poppy use?

It depends on the finish, and the range is moving to a single engine over time. The Satin Black currently ships with NEOZ's N1 engine, which charges in about 3.5 hours and runs up to 44 hours on low. The other finishes currently ship with the UNO engine, which charges in about 5.5 hours and runs up to 50 hours on low. Both use the same 1W warm white LED disc at 2600K, so the light itself is identical; the difference is the battery and, as below, Cordless Lamp Lock compatibility.

Is the Tall Poppy compatible with the Cordless Lamp Lock?

Currently the Satin Black is, because it ships with the N1 engine and a serial number beginning with L. The other finishes are not yet compatible, as they ship with the UNO engine, but they will become compatible as they move to the N1 engine over time. If Lock compatibility matters for your venue, choose the Satin Black or contact the NEOZ team to confirm current availability.

Can the Tall Poppy be used outdoors?

The Tall Poppy carries an IP52 rating, which means it is protected against dripping water and suited to indoor and covered settings such as dining rooms, bars and sheltered terraces. It is not intended for direct rain or splashing.

What kind of light does the Tall Poppy give?

It is a glare-free downlight, casting a soft, warm pool of light downward onto the table from a 1W LED disc, with no bright source visible to the eye. The light is warm white at 2600K, with three levels of brightness. It is designed to light a table intimately rather than to fill a room.

Is the Tall Poppy serviceable, and how is it charged?

Yes. Every major part is user replaceable, including the battery, light source and diffuser, and NEOZ offers repairs and servicing. It ships with a NEOZ charging base that includes AU, UK, EU and USA wall plugs, and it charges on all NEOZ charging systems.
